Project Description
Children’s Mystery Book with a Surprise Ending: “Il commissario De Ghiris: alla ricerca degli ovetti perduti”
Review
🔖 A fun illustrated picture book with a simple and engaging story that recalls the tales of old
🔖 The illustrations are beautiful, with warm colors typical of nature and the autumn season
🔖 One key message: “Never judge an animal just by its fur!”
If we judge someone before getting to know them, we risk falling into prejudice and… making mistakes.
This story helps young readers understand that appearances can be misleading and that it’s important to truly get to know someone before forming an opinion.☀️ We love this story because it:
Teaches in a fun way to look beyond appearances and understand what prejudice is;
Delivers an important lesson: when we judge others without knowing them, we risk being wrong.
🔸 This illustrated picture book, published by Errekappa Edizioni, stands out for its ability to entertain without ever boring, offering children an enjoyable reading experience while subtly introducing light yet meaningful themes. The story unfolds with a well-structured, linear plot that keeps young readers engaged, while the combination of humor and unexpected twists brings smiles and laughter.
🔸 The author skillfully makes the mystery genre accessible even to younger readers, playing with detective story dynamics and turning them into amusing, sometimes absurd situations, always accompanied by sparkling dialogues that will captivate anyone who ventures into the pages.
🔸 Barbara Marini’s warm and enveloping illustrations perfectly complement a narrative that both entertains and moves, creating a charming atmosphere that invites readers to dive into the story.
🔸 Highly recommended for anyone seeking a read that combines cheerfulness, lightheartedness, and a touch of mystery. A book that will undoubtedly captivate both young readers and adults alike, promising laughter and thoughtful moments in equal measure!
It’s a quiet morning at the Hyde Park Animal Police Station.
Inspector Ghiro De Ghiris is about to enjoy his well-deserved hibernation vacation when a new mystery suddenly disrupts his plans: Mrs. Cignetti’s little eggs have vanished without a trace!
With the help of his trusted Officer Scott Squirrels and the rest of his formidable police team, the brilliant Inspector will try to solve the case and safely return the little ones home, in an adventure that teaches an important life lesson:
“Never judge an animal by its fur.”
But what if we changed the ending?
What if the culprit isn’t who you expect? By reasoning, investigating, and thinking creatively and without prejudice, we could have a surprising ending!
This story, written by Antonella Manganelli with my illustrations, is set in autumn in the beautiful Hyde Park, London, and populated by the many animals living in the park, who become the protagonists of this gentle children’s mystery, filled with the warm, vivid colors of fall.
The settings are real locations:
-
The Old Police House in Hyde Park, built in 1870, still home to an operational police unit and the Royal Parks office
-
The Serpentine Lake
-
The Serpentine Lido Café, with its distinctive retro architectural style
